Central Florida Public Media, an independent affiliate of NPR and PBS, hosts their third Tiny Desk Showcase Concert at the Beacham.
Each year, emerging artists compete locally in showcases around the country to snag a coveted gig at the Tiny Desk. This quirky performance series features musicians performing live at NPR Music’s cluttered and cramped office in Washington, D.C.; past highlights have included BTS, Foo Fighters and Tyler, the Creator.
The selection committee for Orlando’s Tiny Desk Showcase — including august figures like E-Turn and Timucua’s Benoit Glazer — and over 80,000 local voters chose the artists performing at the showcase: Sarah Rogo, Corey Ashton, Cassidy Johnson, Fernando Dappo and Camila Camilo. From indie-pop to folk rock, Orlando’s Tiny Desk is ample proof that Orlando is ready for the (Tiny) spotlight.
7 p.m. Thursday, June 4, The Beacham, 46 N. Orange Ave., cfpublic.org/tinydesk, free.
