The night appropriately included the artist raising a glass and downing a stiff drink in honor of the venue and the audience. The artist was Kaleigh Baker, the venue was the well-worn stage at Lil Indie’s and the audience was a crowd of friends, fans and loved ones.

For this would be the last Monday in Baker’s residency at the Mills 50 watering hole before she decamps to Nashville. There have been a lot of artists and musicians leaving Orlando — and Florida — of late. Whether to seek greener creative pastures or just get out from under DeSantis and co., we wish these creatives nothing but the best. But it is a brain (and guitar) drain, make no mistake.

Baker’s set was bittersweet and beautiful as always, and we hope to see her strum again (somehow) sooner rather than later.
