Once you stop fooling yourself, there really are very few defensible options for Halloween mischief when you’re a grownup. This year, however, cult icon Joseph Keckler will be here with a special two-night engagement to ring in the witching season for adults who still harbor a wicked sense of fun.

A thing of subversive genius, Keckler’s unique brand of cabaret comedy is a twisted merge of song and story. Like chamber music done with a dry Zach Galifianakis sensibility, his vocal stylings can go from a wry deadpan on up to a stunning opera bel canto. But it’s the ridiculous tales they tell like “Shroom Trip Opera” and “Goth Song” that send up the whole conceit into high-concept hilarity. A musical humorist par excellence, Keckler is smart, devious and seriously funny.

7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26, Timucua Arts Foundation, $22.50.
