Scruffy, shaggy Jonathan Coulton looks (and acts) like a missing cast member of IT Crowd. Coulton, a graduate of Yale and a former computer programmer, belongs to the campy club that includes They Might Be Giants and Nerfherder. His geeky pop songs started as part of a podcast – “Thing a Week” – where he’d record a new song every week for a year. From there, his upbeat catalogue continued to expand, covering offbeat subject matter as pedantic as shopping at Ikea or as quirky as consoling the moon for losing its planet status. Since he’s so entrenched in Web culture, it’s no surprise that his tour has a social media connection: He’s inviting three random fans (plus their guests) for a special happy hour on his tour bus. All you have to do is tweet the link http://bit.ly/jocohappyhourorl with the hashtag #JoCoBeacham and you’ll be eligible to join his short, dorky pre-party. – Ashley Belanger
