Despite constituting the third largest Asian group in America, the Philippine diaspora has long been underrepresented in American culture. But thankfully, that’s changing here in Orlando.

The nascent Halo Halo Music Fest is the latest event to get loud and proud in spotlighting area Filipinx talent. With all due respect to tradition, HHMF is distinctive for its focus on rising artistic voices.

The lineup of over 30 acts is an impressive span encompassing pop, rock, hip-hop, indie, math-rock, metal, punk, prog, goth and more. Both ethnic and youthful, HHMF is an upward gathering that’s not simply about honoring where you came from but where you’re going.

3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, Will’s Pub/Dirty Laundry/Lil Indie’s/Uncle Lou’s, $15-$25.
