This just has to be the best thing the community has done for girls in ages, if not ever. This Rock ’n’ Roll Camp for Girls includes workshops on neat-o stuff like screen printing, important topics like body image and crucial skills like self-defense, all over the course of a single week. And at the end? The girls, ages 8 to 17, will have formed a band, written a song and practiced it enough to perform it live on the same stage where major national bands play each week at Will’s Pub. It’s an early show that ends by 6 p.m., so wind back your watch if you’re used to arriving to shows late. Due to those performing with little ears and young lungs, it’s obviously a non-smoking show. Expect a sell-out crowd, but don’t worry, you’ll still be in bed by 8. – Ashley Belanger
