Christopher Paul Stelling Credit: Josh Wool

Maybe now everyone will see why I’ve been writing about this Florida cat for years.

Progressive folk artist Christopher Paul Stelling grew up in Daytona Beach but cut his first teeth in Orlando. He first perked my radar around 2009 as a bright unknown on defunct Orlando boutique label Sleepy Bird Orphanage. Now, as officially announced today, he’s hit the indie big leagues as the newest artist on ANTI- Records, the same Epitaph sister label that signed Solillaquists of Sound back in 2006.

Although it doesn’t say it on today’s label press release announcing the signing, Stelling told me that the new album is slated for a May release. And from what I’ve heard of it, it’s very much worth anticipating.

Major hometown daps to you, Chris. We’re looking forward to that big release.
