Four (count ’em) of the finest young, feral hardcore punk practitioners touring this soon after the holidays makes this early Stardust show worthy of a spotlight. But when one of those bands is Washington, D.C.’s Red Death, appropriate notches have been kicked up. The band has moved beyond its hardcore roots, delving enthusiastically into a retro-futuristic thrash sound redolent of crossover bands like DRI and the West Coast pit-diving of Exodus and Testament, with all the attendant solos and screams of “Yow!” that punctuate songs. It’ll be fun. Also come early for locals Flamethrower; they’re making the live rounds again and a recent set at Lou’s was vicious and pretty deranged.
