This year is looking kinda top-heavy so far in terms of local music festivals, including Ralphfest, Total Fuck Off Weekend, the Anonymous Music-Art-Film Festival (which all happen between now and March), but don’t sleep on this massive upcoming weekend offering to celebrate three years of great shows put on by Norse Korea. Between Friday, Jan. 24 and Saturday, Jan. 25, you can catch nearly 20 awesome bands at your choice of venue (Backbooth, the Social, Will’s Pub, Lil Indies) for single-day shows as low as $7 or $12 for a full weekend pass.
Headlining is Nashville rockers Turbo Fruits, who we’re planning to interview for that week’s issue, so check back for that and for now, check out their 2012 album Butter:
Here’s how it breaks down:
7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 @ Backbooth, $7 advance or $10 at the door
8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 @ Will’s Pub, $7 advance or $10 at the door
Richard Sherfey and All God’s Children
Sterling Schroeder and the Chosen Ones
8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 @ Lil Indies, 21+
9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 @ the Social, $8 (or free with your ticket to Against Me! next door at the Beacham)
Festivals (someone help me out, this is impossible to search: “festivals” “band” “Well, shit.”)
The Shakers
It’s also definitely worth your time to check out the Band in Heaven’s 2013 release, Caught in a Summer Swell, which we reviewed last year and loved.
Happy Anniversary, NK Presents. It feels like just yesterday we were writing to reflect on your first year, and how you’re separate from “the sea of promoter pretenders.”
