Damo Suzuki, legendary frontman of outsider rock icons Can, will be playing his first show in Florida ever at the end of October, kicking off his first tour of the United States in 12 years. (Though not in Orlando, but Miami.) Now, we fully acknowledge that driving to Miami is a colossal pain, but this show is definitely worth the drive.
The promoters behind Miami Psych Fest, Eclectic Overdrive, will be hosting Suzuki at the 777 International Mall/Mana Contemporary with a host of local musicians. Suzuki came to fame as the voice of German avant-rock trailblazers Can in the 1970s, and since the 1980s he has been playing live with his “Damo Suzuki’s Network,” ad hoc ensembles of local musicians that he plays improvised sets with from city to city.
Damo Suzuki plays the 777 International Mall in Miami on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door.
