After opening for the reigning queens of girly pop — Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Clairo, etc. — you might’ve expected Beabadoobee to keep chasing something shiny beneath all that haze. Wrong again. Instead, her new record, Pylon, cranks the amps and roughens up the edges around her bedroom-pop softness, trading the sheen for an ethereal grunginess that buoys her silken vocals over blown-out guitars.
And she didn’t exactly invite the quiet kids over, either. Paramore’s Hayley Williams, Deftones’ Chino Moreno, Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates and Pinegrove’s Evan Stephens Hall all help drag Beabadoobee deeper into the fuzz while she sorts through the assorted anxieties and general mess of life in your 20s.
Now all that fuzz gets the arena treatment when the Powerlines Tour rolls into Addition Financial Arena, with Wisp there to make sure audiences get an early start on the distortion.
8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13, Addition Financial Arena, 12777 Gemini Blvd. N., additionfiarena.com, $74.50-448.50.
