Nasty, filthy trash-rock is easy as hell to play. In fact, it’s easy as hell to play well. So the fact that “Dangerous Magical Noise” — the third album from The Dirtbombs — is a nasty, filthy, trash-rockin’ affair isn’t all that big of a deal. What is a big deal is that this Detroit five-piece manages to keep getting more and more interesting. My theory is that it has everything to do with Mick Collins’ Euro-glam vocals, which impart a sense of glossy perfection to the whole bulldozer brew. More interested in sashaying groove than flailing distorto-histrionics, the ‘Bombs keep it raw and powerful, but infused with just the right amount of Motor City sexiness.
