Premieres Wednesday:

The Bear — Carmy and his crew try to reduce the turmoil in their lives in Season 4, but complications keep getting in the way. Like the pressures of making their restaurant a success, and cosmic rays turning Richie into a brooding orange rock monster. (Hulu)

Countdown — Jensen Ackles gets a new series vehicle, in which he plays an L.A. cop hunting for the murderer of a DHS officer. Boy, talk about timing. If they’ve handled things right, there could be as many as seven Americans still willing to sympathize with this guy. (Prime Video)

The Ultimatum: Queer Love — The show gets an injection of literal Orlando pride in Season 2, with Come Out With Pride event producer (and former iHeartRadio personality) “AJ” among the cast of same-sexers who have to choose between doubling down on their current relationship or moving on to a new one. Marry all of us, AJ! Then we can all star in a Hulu documentary together! (Netflix)

Premieres Friday:

Marry My Husband — Japan offers its own version of the Korean series about a woman who goes back in time to get preemptive revenge on her unfaithful spouse, only to fall in love with someone else. Speaking on behalf of every man in the audience, Michio Kaku will appear at the end of each episode to explain why the laws of quantum physics prove she cheated first. (Prime Video)

Pokémon Horizons Season 2: The Search for Laqua, Part 3 — If you’re pining for the days when a TV season consisted of more than six hour-long installments every three years, be advised that the latest chapter of this ongoing saga boasts a whopping 56 episodes. That’s called keeping the faith … or maybe a more appropriate term would be “putting your commitment to the test.” Make it through this sucker, and your relationship coach will never assign you to The Ultimatum. Smoke — A podcast about a real-life arsonist inspired Dennis Lehane to create this new series about the hunt for a pair of psychopathic firebugs. The eclectic cast includes Taron Egerton, Jurnee Smollett, John Leguizamo and Greg Kinnear. Or as the kids would say, this bunch is straight . (Apple TV+)

Squid Game — The third and final season will determine if this one-time phenomenon gets remembered as just another Tiger King that streaming milked for more than it was worth. Or we could all find ourselves enthralled by the narrative escalation into what show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk calls “very intense games to bring out the bottom parts of human nature.” Last I checked, Love Island still had the market cornered on depicting the bottom parts of humans, thank you very much. (Netflix)

Premieres Monday:

Shark Whisperer — Explore the controversy that surrounds conservationist Ocean Ramsey, who has been both hailed as a visionary and dismissed as a showboater for eschewing traditional safety methods to get up close and personal with sharks. I understand the riskiest part is convincing them to let you break. (Netflix)

Premieres Tuesday:

Attack on London: Hunting the 7/7 Bombers — A limited-series retrospective marks the 20th anniversary of the coordinated suicide bombings that sent Britain into three weeks of paranoia and xenophobic panic. These days, all they have to do is wait for another tweet from Ricky Gervais. (Netflix)

Trainwreck: The Cult of American Apparel — This week’s episode profiles the clothing brand that was hailed as forward-thinking and sex-positive, only to be revealed as a hornet’s nest of harassment and financial mismanagement. It would be nice to think the ensuing flap forced the industry to clean up its act, but that doesn’t explain why Grok keeps messaging your TeePublic shop to hit it up for feet pics. (Netflix)
