Ewan McGregor may have loosed a lot of bad acting on the world, but he’s a big fan of motorcycles and motorcycling, so we must forgive him his sins. He rode a bike around the world for 2004’s Long Way Around; he narrated Faster, a gorgeous bit of speed porn that same year; and now he’s done narration duty on The Doctor, the Tornado & the Kentucky Kid, the follow-up documentary to Faster about the return of Moto GP racing to the United States in 2005. Like Faster, the cinematography in The Doctor ‘ the title is a reference to the nicknames of three top racers ‘ is beautiful. And this time around, director Mark Neale saturated the race with onboard cameras, so you can watch Laguna Seca fly by at 150 mph a foot off the ground from a half-dozen angles. Some of the extras are dull ‘ turns out world-class motorcycle racers are just as boring to listen to as most athletes ‘ but if you have a need for real speed this will cure it.
