Let it not be said that ‘Christianâ? movies always live up to the severely diminished expectations one usually has when faced with them. For instance, the latest production from Fox Faith ‘ a blatant, if gore-scrubbed, ripoff of Se7en ‘ surprises by being awful for entirely different reasons than, say, Conversations With God. Though ideas like ‘home schooling makes you insane,â? ‘priests are powerlessâ? or, perhaps the oddest, ‘psychologists can save the dayâ? may be surprising, the amount of gunfire, darkness, creepy Bible passages taken out of context and suicidal themes are just plain weird. But, fear not, there’s no cursing or fucking. Or decent scripting. Guess it met some expectations. Perfect for that good Christian family who’s aching to see a neutered, unoriginal crime thriller that clumsily coughs up its ‘spiritualâ? theme only in the last line.
