A tropical thriller set in the Cayman Islands, Haven wants you to believe that Orlando Bloom is 21 and that Bill Paxton can make clichéd dialogue worthwhile. The absurdly confusing plot is built upon a flashback device that’s never fully realized and based around characters whose presence is never adequately explained. Dirty money, wanton tourists, police brutality, drugs, interracial romance and an inexplicable gay subplot get tossed into a film that tries to be sordidly humid, but winds up frustratingly dull. This three-year-old film is only now finding release, probably to the chagrin of everyone onscreen.
