Gentrification ignites murderous envy in Mike Figgis’ mediocre thriller, in which a Noo Yawk family seeking safety purchases a country home Ð only to be terrorized by its resentful former owner (Stephen Dorff). Unfortunately, Figgis’ surface-level potboiler would rather pursue hit-and-miss scares than explore cleverer conceits like its promising class-war subtext. It’s fun, though, to see the valiant mom played by a totally out-of-her-element Sharon Stone, whose every glance conveys the contradictory desire to cut loose and party with Dorff.
