With COVID-19 causing long shutdowns and inflation raising the cost of everything, the restaurant industry has been put through the wringer. Some restos sadly decided to hang up their aprons this year. Here are all the Orlando restaurants that have closed in 2022.
Belanger Bagels
4339 Edgewater Dr, Orlando, FL 32804
This is now being replaced with Jeff’s bagel run’s second location, where now it will have the best New York bagels around. Sadly, the owner of the bagel shop was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. They decided to close the doors to have a head start to beat the disease. Before the doors closed, locals could have enjoyed a Montreal style bagel and sandwiches. This castle once held bao buns, Japanese rice bowls and even homemade churros. They closed their doors on July 11, due to not being able to catch up during the pandemic. They even said they should have stopped operating during its first year. Credit: photo via Bao’s Castle/FacebookBetyi Mediterranean Grill
870 FL-436, Casselberry, FL 32707
Betyi was a spot to enjoy Turkish classics such as babaganoush, tabouli and gyros. After the owner started serving guests in the old Rolando’s Cuban Restaurant it is a shame this place will close again. Yalcin Aykin, the 65-year-old owner of this unique spot brought some distinct flavor to Casselberry that will be missed. Credit: Photo via beytifl.comBubbalou’s
1701 Rock Springs Rd, Apopka, FL 32712
Bubbalou’s has been serving in Orlando since 1986, it is a shame that one of their locations closed. Nonetheless, items such as their smoke ribs, gator nuggets and the big pig live on in two other locations. If you are still carving some barbeque head over to their restaurants on Kirkman and Altamonte Springs. Credit: Photo via Bubbalou's Bodacious Bar-B-Que/Facebook
Cafe de France
526 S. Park Ave., Winter Park, FL 32789
Cafe de France opened shop in 1982, making memories for many locals for over 30 years. When the restaurant was open, it served iconic French cuisine such as escargots, steak tartare, and coq au vin. 2635 Curry Ford Rd, Orlando, FL 32806
Named one of the hottest restaurants in Orlando in 2019, this local chain closed one of its three locations recently. If you are still craving that woodfired pizza or pasta this place still lives on in Winter Park and Longwood. Credit: Photo via fdwoodfireditaliankitchen.comFuddruckers

1412 Alden Rd, Orlando, FL 32803
This was one of the spots to find 100% plant-based vegan friendly items. Celebrity chef Matthew Kenney brought vegan pizzas, nachos, burgers and ice cream. This place where you can buy one beer and get one free everyday will be missed. Credit: Photo via Humbl/FacebookImmersion
8000 Via Dellagio Way, Orlando, FL 32819
This short lived boutique opened its doors to those who can afford the pricey tasting meals in April. Located in the exclusive members-only London House club this restaurant was designed to be zero-waste and science based. British chef Rikku O’Donnchu tried to bring this unique experience to The City Beautiful, but with a hefty price tag of $345. Credit: Photo by Rob BartlettLa Kuma Coffee
840 E State Rd 434, Longwood, FL 32750
The cute bear with a pipe was a distinguishable logo and will be a great loss to Longwood. Patrons used to be able to wake up and visit this spot to enjoy different types of coffees and caffeinated beverages in a bright aesthetically pleasing scenery. 435 E Michigan St, Orlando, FL 32806
Siblings Bob and Gail Givoglu were inspired to bring the Greek to Orlando by growing up with their mom cooking Greek food for them. Mediterranean Blue did that, bringing those distinct flavors through dishes such as Moussaka, Spanakopita and gyros. Credit: Photo Via Mediterranean Blue/FacebookProper & Wild
155 E Morse Blvd, Winter Park, FL 32789
Named best new restaurant in 2019, it is surprising to see its closure in 2022. Proper and Wild was a spot to enjoy juices, fresh foods and other vegan items. Jamie Savage was also the co-owner of this cafe, where 18 employees spoke against him and explained how he would touch them inappropriately and make offensive comments. With these incidents occurring in 2020, it may have been a factor to the closure. Credit: Photo via Instagram/@properandwild_wpSanctum Cafe
715 N Fern Creek Ave, Orlando, FL 32803
Another vegan place on the list, Sanctum Cafe was in the heart of Mills 50 serving guests salads, smoothies and fresh produce. In 2020, after the owners lack of support for the Black Lives Matter movement, the local food community went into a frenzy. Sexual harassment allegations began to also come up against one of the owners, Jamie Savage. One of the employees spoke to Orlando Weekly recounting times Savage made her feel uncomfortable. This incident does not have a direct link to the closure. Credit: Photo via The Sanctum Cafe/FacebookSourdough Bread House
5761 US Hwy 17/92 Suite OP 1021, Casselberry, FL 32707
No need to fear, Sourdough Bread House is temporarily closed, and they will be opening a new location soon. They are still taking cake and bread orders on their Instagram. In the meantime, locals can reminisce on how this location once served vegan sourdough breads, Turkish coffee and lemon white chocolate cookies.
