New noms: Square 1 opens; Hotto Potto opens in new, larger space

Two spots we've been waiting are now (finally) open. 

Square 1 Burgers & Bar opened its doors in a newish development on Orlando Avenue in Winter Park (that's 17-92 when it's at home) that's also home to the relocated Subway. The chainlet specializes in burgers of every type — Angus, Kobe and Wagyu beef, as well as pork, chicken, lamb and a very legit house-made vegan burger (on vegan bun). But don't worry, carnivores – with specialties like the Buffalo Bob (buffalo burger topped with bacon, fried onion rings and beer-cheese sauce) and the Rise & Shine (Angus beef burger topped with fried egg, bacon, caramelized onions and gruyére) this place has you in mind, but now you can bring along your plant-eating friends.

With a full line of specialty cocktails and boozy milkshakes, you may both forget whether you eat meat or not.

Hotto Potto was one of the first mega-popular hotpot joints in town, and they're still one of the most comprehensive. Not only do they serve a super-wide array of fresh ingredients to dunk into your bubbling broth, they also make a whole range of sauces in house, and – best of all – they stay open until 2 a.m. on weekends. (Friday and Saturday, until 5 a.m.!) 

They've been planning to move into a larger space for more than a year, and the time has finally come. After a soft open last weekend, the doors are open in the new space. (Formerly at 3090 Aloma, the new, larger location is 1700 N. Semoran Blvd.) The official Grand Opening Celebration is Friday, March 18, but you don't have to wait to get your noodle fix.
