While we’re writing this on International Women’s Day, you’re reading it a week later with those annual 24 hours of hashtagtivism in the rearview. But it’s impossible not to see this annual event spearheaded by chef Kathleen Blake as a tangible demonstration of the values International Women’s Day promotes: inclusion, equality and shine theory in action. (Shine theory, as articulated by Ann Friedman and Aminatou Sow of the “Call Your Girlfriend” podcast, posits that women are more powerful when they befriend each other, rather than competing: “I don’t shine if you don’t shine.”) This four-course dinner will be conceived and cooked by 10 badass James Beard Award-winning female chefs from across the country, and served alfresco on the grounds of the picturesque Lake Meadow Naturals farm, serving as a bright shining beacon of hope and excellence in a rapidly changing industry.
