Florida brewery creates biodegradable and edible 6-pack packaging

Local marine life rejoice, Florida-based Saltwater Brewery is making edible and environmentally friendly 6-pack beer packaging.

The brewery paired up with advertising agency We Believers to create the first fully-edible beer can package. The edible and biodegradable 6-pack packaging is "made from the byproducts of the brewing process", like wheat and barley, according to Discover Magazine.

Saltwater Brewery is planning to produce enough to meet its monthly production of about 400,000 cans of beer. The environmentally-safe holders are more expensive to produce than plastic holders, but the brewery hopes other companies will start producing the biodegradable beer packaging and, eventually, it will become the new norm.
