Antonella’s Pizzeria Winter Park 360 W. Just talking to Antoniella Paradiso at her namesake pizza and pasta house on Fairbanks Avenue, you get a sense of the passion and familial pride in this cozy little operation. F&D Woodfired Hourglass District 2420 Curry Ford Road, 407-751-5697 While F&D Woodfired doesn’t specialize solely in pizzas, one of their pies will have you coming back for seconds. Pizzeria Del-Dio Milk District 3210 E. Colonial Drive, 407-898-1115 With their name meaning “Pizzeria of God,” a slice of pizza from Pizzeria Del-Dio may leave you wondering if angels themselves are manning the pizza ovens in the back. Serving up New York-style pizza, Pizzeria Del-Dio perfectly executes robust, traditional Italian flavors. Is there another place you can get a heart-shaped pizza? We’ll wait. (No, seriously, let us know). If it’s date night, surprise your S/O with a pie shaped like the love organ and split the toppings in half. Pizza Bruno Conway-Curry Ford 3990 Curry Ford Road, no phone You’ll fall in love the moment you sink your pearlies into one of Bruno Zacchini’s neo-Neapolitan pies. Fermented dough is scorched in a wood-fired, Ferrari-red Pavesi oven at about 900 degrees Fahrenheit until properly leopard-spotted, but the toppings, comprising new, at times seasonal, flavor combinations are where Zacchini gets creative. Anthony’s Thornton Park Thornton Park 100 N. Summerlin Ave., 407-648-0009 Not to be confused with Anthony’s Pizza Delivery down on East Colonial, this one is the superior place. Don’t come to Anthony’s Thornton Park if you’re trying to save calories – there’s nowhere to hide. Tartini Pizzeria & Spaghetteria SoDo 6321 S. Orange Ave., Pine Castle, 407-704-8011 Belle Isle’s neighborhood trattoria is drawing aficionados of wood-fired pizza to South Orange Ave. The perfectly blistered crusts enhance the wonderfully doughy pies, and the house chicken soup is a must for anyone feeling under the weather. Gitto’s Pizza Downtown 120 S. Orange Ave., 407-203-8889 The thing that stands out the most about Gitto’s is their enormous jumbo pies which are a whopping 22 inches. If you can’t finish an entire jumbo pie, however, you’ll be relieved to learn that they have smaller pizza sizes as well. There is a brick oven, and it’s used to churn out some damn fine pizzas. The crust of a Terramia pie is especially perfect – blistered, with the right amount of give.
