Billy Manes

The week where Hizzoner Buddy Dyer loved the state of his city while not necessarily minding the rules of campaigning (again). Also, small business is not all business, folks. Businesses are people, too!

The week where everything imaginable regarding Jesus and contraception and women got spun on a Catherine wheel, Tampa took our gay bait and the Orlando Magic proved that sports and politics are best mixed with big money. We’re all stars now.

The week where halftime in Tallahassee brought a snippy House budget and the egregious (if boring) yawn of a redistricting debacle; also, Orwellian un-persons can’t run for city office! We are all invisible now.

The week where all the gays in Gayville got gay hot dogs waved in their faces while Florida led the charge to make sure that, if you’re poor and sick, you stay that way. Don’t eat too many gay hot dogs!

Billy Manes paying attention to local government so you don’t have to

The week where a call to arms brought unpleasant attention to the bumbling Republican machine, some oil cash brought more tackiness to the Panhandle and Joe Biden’s brother brought bad education to Florida. It’s already been brought-en!

It may not have been the year of the rat, but 2011 sure was full of rodents. Also, expect more of the same – plus an added twist of Jesus – in 2012. Happy New Year?
