More than 40 years after The Golden Girls first invited viewers into their Miami living room (and respective boudoirs!), Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia are back, but this time they’re in drag.
The beloved NBC sitcom premiered in 1985, ran for seven seasons and collected 11 Emmys while proving that friendship, aging and a withering side-eye make for great television. Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue picks up with the group amid a decidedly less network-friendly chapter. “Shady Pines, Ma! Shady Pines!” — Dorothy’s infamous warning — has taken a whole new meaning now that Sophia’s out on bail following a DEA bust at the retirement home. Meanwhile, Blanche and Rose have launched a sex app for seniors and Dorothy is juggling a much younger, sex-crazed boyfriend.
An all-drag cast steps into the ladies’ sensible shoes (along with Blanche’s less practical footwear) for this adults-only stage comedy. Thank you for being a friend, and if necessary, posting bail.
