There’s a poetry workshop happening this week far away from the usual places of learning, led not by local professors but by two seasoned figures in Orlando underground music.
Poets Anonymous, the brainchild of Will Bess (Warm Frames) and Rachel Kinbar (the Dining Room, Bonk), is an informal monthly poetry workshop and forum. It’s meant to foster interest in and appreciation for poetry outside of schools and paid workshops. Both have incorporated poetry into their respective creative practices: Bess has published a couple of zines of his writings, and Kinbar used to begin events at the Dining Room with a favorite verse or two. Writers of all skill levels are welcome to bring works-in-progress to share with the group.
Poets Anyonymous happens at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 13, at the Quakers of Orlando Meeting House, 316 E. Marks St. in Colonialtown new location TBA.
This is a free event, so just show up with some words.
