Originally from Colombia, NYC-based comedian Pedro Gonzalez came to the U.S. when he was 20 without papers, but with plenty of jokes. And those jokes sure hit — Gonzalez was the first Latin American immigrant to perform stand-up on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and a finalist in New York’s Funniest Comedian contest in 2019.

Gonzalez uses his comedy to defy stereotypes and challenge the audience preconceptions, building bridges in times of extreme political polarization. Gonzalez will be performing in his native tongue on this tour, connecting further to immigrants like himself not just through his comedy, but through language. He’s coming to the Timucua Arts Foundation, a suitably intimate and homey destination for this singular voice.

7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 11, Timucua Arts Foundation, 2000 S. Summerlin Ave., eventbrite.com, $30.
