What better way to enjoy your favorite pop songs than to hear them performed by award-winning opera singers? (We’ll wait.) Opera-oke, an event presented by Opera Orlando and Judson’s Live, brings high drama and diva energy with opera singers — Ben Gulley, a star tenor who has performed for nearly two decades; soprano Susan Hellman Spatafora, and baritone Gabriel Preisser — tackling some of pop’s biggest hits.
The non-traditional opera event, as well as serving fierce performances, will serve a tailored menu of food and cocktails. Games and prizes will be on offer, and guests will be able to choose songs and even join the opera stars on stage. For fans of vocal acrobatics and a memorable chorus, Opera-oke is the event for you.
5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 14, Judson’s Live, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 S. Magnolia Ave., drphillipscenter.org, $35.11.
