As we make the turn into fall, what better way to hit the gas on spooky season than with a little blood, a few demons and one very groovy chainsaw? Opera del Sol brings Evil Dead: The Musical to the Pugh Theater Oct. 2-4, and gives Sam Raimi’s cabin-in-the-woods nightmare the musical-theater treatment.
Armon Flukers takes up the chainsaw as the iconic Ash Williams, whose quiet cabin getaway gets derailed by one small problem: The dead won’t stay dead. The stage adaptation swaps some of the franchise’s screams for a rock score, then throws singing, dancing and plenty of dismemberment into the mix. For anyone who’s ever watched Evil Dead and thought, “I wish some of that blood was headed in my direction,” select seats will be planted inside the show’s “splash zone.” You have been warned — maybe don’t wear white.
