Theatre Downtown takes on the play that, in cinematic form, made Marilyn Monroe a household name. That white dress fanning upward in the thigh-exposing draft from a subway grate is the most iconic bit, but the stream of hot-weather jokes in George Axelrod’s chestnut (“When it’s hot like this, I keep my undies in the icebox”) will strike a sympathetic nerve with audiences already tired of the steambath that is summer in Orlando. – Jessica Bryce Young
