Like teen pop stars, books are subject to a rise-and-then-fall popularity curve. So those 50 copies of, say, Gone Girl the library purchased last summer to keep up with borrowers’ demands, well … this summer about 48 of them are probably twiddling their thumbs on the shelf. Their downfall is your windfall, though, as deaccessioned library books make up a significant part of the Friends of the Library book sale at the downtown Orlando Public Library. Come find a stack of beach reads plus audiobooks, DVDs, CDS and vinyl at rock-bottom prices. To get even better prices plus first crack at the good stuff, join Friends of the Library ($15 at the door) and you can get 10 percent off and attend the members-only presale Thursday evening. Stacks on stacks on stacks.
