You’ve got to hand it to these two younger brothers of practically the entire cast of In Living Color – they hang around. These days, the famous Wayans brothers are all at various states of repose: Keenan Ivory’s initial, mad creative burst is now a couple of decades in the rearview; former livewire Damon’s transition to family comedy seems ever more complete (and kinda right) with the success of his grown son’s sitcom, Happy Endings, and sister Kim discovered her dramatic side with last year’s Pariah as the title character’s mother. (You only truly know the cruelty of time’s passage when college kids can’t even quote Don’t Be a Menace to South Central
back to you anymore.) And yet the babies, Shawn and Marlon, just keep getting better at this Hollywood thing. Prolific co-writers and co-producers, the pair is capable of both cringe-worthy silliness (White Chicks) and riotous irreverence (Scary Movie). Expect a little of both in tonight’s tag-team stand-up exercise intended, they say, to help keep the creative engine revved up. As if they needed any more juice. Er
Juice. – Justin Strout
