It’s been a period of pivots for the Renaissance Theatre Co. They’re still sorting out construction issues with the city that led to the closure of their Ivanhoe headquarters last year. But now, safely and temporarily ensconced in the former Fringe ArtSpace in downtown Orlando, there’s another pivot starting this week: a lengthy run of the Tina Fey-penned hit Broadway musical Mean Girls.
It’ll be a departure from the theater’s usually more edgy and immersive fare, but it’s absolutely worth it to get some new eyeballs on their repertory players and some butts in seats. (Maybe the aforementioned butts will come back for the RuPaul’s Drag Race viewing parties hosted by Orlandoan and current contestant Myki Meeks)
Runs select nights through March 15.
Friday, Jan. 16, Renaissance Theatre Co., 54 W. Church St., rentheatre.com, $32-$62.
