You might have noticed – not from Orlando’s warm temps – that the fall season is here: The arrival of the much-anticipated pumpkin-spice latte, theme parks metamorphosis into fright fests that make us scream like 4-year-olds, and the Halloween decor splashed all over local retail establishments. This week, the Mennello Museum aims to heighten our autumnal senses with its annual Pumpkins & Pies fundraiser. This family-friendly event offers home-cooked barbecue dinners ($10 includes two sides) and just about every kind of home-baked pie you can think of, not to mention live music, scarecrow-making activities and a fall-inspired arts-and-craft silent auction. Once you’ve filled up on pie, walk across Loch Haven Park’s lawn to the Orlando Repertory Theatre. There, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra performs a free concert featuring the Power Chords and Mr. Richard and the Pound Hounds in celebration of the Rep’s 10th birthday and the Orchestra’s 20th season. – Salo Steinvortz
