Although the layout was a maze worthy of the Hellraiser puzzle-box, there was plenty of humid and horrifying fun to be had at Spooky Empire. Cosplayers braved the frankly unbearable heat and I-Drive gridlock to strut their finery. Meanwhile, grindhouse fanatics took selfies with an inflatable thicc Creature of the Black Lagoon and paid homage to celebs like Joe Bob Briggs, Simon Pegg, Danny Elfman, Felissa Rose, Jeffrey Combs and Lloyd Kaufman.
