Orlando’s oldest independent bookstore, Spiral Circle, is marking five decades keeping the City Beautiful mystical with a celestial party.

The ever esoteric shop hosts a twilight garden party anniversary celebration on Saturday in the early evening. The invite is open to all, and there will be mocktails, small bites and sweet treats on offer.

Also set for the festivities is a look back on the store’s long history, video screenings, appearances from special guests and even a proclamation from the City of Orlando declaring May 17 as “Spiral Circle Day of Jubilee.”

These special guests — set to represent the shop’s past, present and future — will appear at 7 p.m. and include a video appearance from shop founder Beverly Ford, as well as Rep. Anna V. Eskamani, John Rife of East End Market and current shop “steward” Julie Wilder.

The shop even invites attendees to bring an offering for a time capsule, which will be sealed and buried on-site as “an offering to the land.” The evening culminates, naturally, in a toast to 50 more years.

6 p.m. Saturday, May 17, Spiral Circle, 750 N. Thornton Ave., spiralcircle.com, free.
