Orlando Book Festival happens this weekend courtesy your local public library system, complete with a celebrity keynote speech from NYT bestseller Brad Meltzer.

This Saturday, the Orlando Public Library downtown becomes (even more of) a literary hub with the Orlando Book Festival taking over the joint. The mostly-free event features panels, guest speakers from the publishing world, local and regional authors and more.

Keynote speaker and featured guest Meltzer is best known for his bestselling novels The Lightning Rod and The Escape Artist but comic fans have a soft spot for him from Green Arrow and the controversial Identity Crisis.

The rest of the Fest features local literary orgs like Authentic Selves Poetry and The Jack Kerouac Project tabling, local and regional authors making appearances, workshops and penels like “Author Community & Collaboration” and of course book signings.

Orlando Book Festival runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 at the Orlando Public Library. The event is free but pre-registration is required for Meltzer’s keynote.
