Silent House — Elizabeth Olsen (of Martha Marcy May Marlene) is trapped in a sinister abode in this remake of an Uruguayan Oscar contender. The U.S. version plays out in a single, uninterrupted shot, which means a nation of film students now no longer has to give a fleeting damn about Rope. (R)

A Thousand Words — Cursed by a New Age guru, Eddie Murphy has to find every way possible to avoid verbal communication. Sounds like every audience’s dream, right? Not when the alternative is shameless mugging. (PG-13)
