Storyteller, artistic director and co-founder of Phoenix Tears Productions Meghan Markham is bringing her Critics’ Choice Fringe show Witch With Her Skirt on Fire back to Orlando.

At this spring’s Fringe, the UCF graduate and Washington state resident’s magical solo show felt “fresh yet somehow familiar” and felt “both authentically ancient and utterly contemporary,” according to our own Seth Kubersky; Witch duly enjoyed a sold-out run in May.

Markham uses simple storytelling techniques and a glowing book to provide an enchanting performance about the perception of witchcraft. A library in the center of the universe with every book ever written, a maiden with hourglass lungs, a woman with starlight hair and a vitrified crone are all part of the stories Markham weaves for her traditional Catholic grandmother to explain why the world deems witches evil.

On a more earthly note, half the proceeds from ticket sales go to The Center.

3 & 8 p.m. Saturday, July 26, The Center, 942 N. Mills Ave., thecenterorlando.org, $18.
