It’s the Maitland museum’s traditional Friday-night party to mark the opening of a new exhibition in its galleries, and this one brings in the New Year with a roar. Women of the Research Studio celebrates the history of its female fellows and artists in residence, from Mina Citron (1896-1991) and Jan Gelb (1906-78) to contemporary mixed-media artists Nikki Painter and Elisabeth Condon, both members of the newly reinvigorated 2017 Artists-in-Residence program. As always at Culture Pop, there’ll be food, drink, music, readings, artist demonstrations and pop-up installations throughout the beautiful grounds of the Maitland art complex.
