News, links, etc:
-RIP Bernadette Lafont. (Keyframe Daily)
-This week at TCA13, HBO execs Richard Plepler and Michael Lombardo said that HBO would never air the completed pilot for Criminal Justice, a miniseries that James Gandolfini had not completed shooting before dying. Even worse, they’re thinking about reshooting Gandolfini’s part and going ahead with the series without him. I can’t be the only one who wants to see the Gandolfini version. (THR)
-Hayao Miyazaki is being called a traitor by right-wingers in Japan for his latest film. Seems more like a vocal minority than anything serious. (Kotaku)
-ESPN announced the new slate of 30 for 30 docs, including films about Tanya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan, Jimmy Connors, and the “No Mas” fight. (SB Nation)
-I don’t know if you need to see these 10 films before you see The Wolverine, but it’s a good list of films to see anyway. Ken Takatura represent. (Playlist)
-Here comes Shailene Woodley. (Flavorwire)
-Some people are weirded out by White Men Can’t Jump being on Stanely Kubrick’s top 10 film list, but I think it’s a better inclusion the The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. (Complex)
-Pete Docter’s upcoming Pixar film is starting to sound an awful lot like Herman’s Head, but with an 11 year old girl instead. (THR)

-Jeff Garlin rages against Pig Parker, gets sued. Larry David was right. He’s always right. (THR)
-Jamie Benning’s next filumentary will be about Back to the Future, followed by one about Ghostbusters. (@JamiesWB)
-Sacha Baron Cohen left the Freddie Mercury biopic and it sounds like the exact right thing to have done. Queen have gotten a lot of shit about how they’ve handled the band since Freddie Mercury’s death and they should have to eat some more over this. No one wants to see a neutered version of Freddie’s story. (Grantland)
-Lucasfilm’s new office building in Singapore is shaped like a glass sandcrawler. (@blauereiter)
-Spike Lee is definitely not peacing out. (Playlist)
-“Penis, vagina, penis, vagina, penis, vagina. Penis penis. Aaaand penis.” -Aubrey Plaza, GQ Aug 2013. (GQ)

Trailers, posters, etc:
-If they actually made this live action Daria movie with Aubrey Plaza I would absolutely go see it. (College Humor)
-The new Romeo and Juliet, with Hailee Steinfeld, Douglas Booth and Paul Gimatti. Looks a little heavy compared the two significant past adaptations (Baz Lurhmann’s 1996 version and Franco Ziffirelli’s 1968 version) (MTV)
-Shane Salerno’s JD Salinger doc, aptly titled Salinger. (Apple)
-Keanu Reeves goes Ronin with 46 other dudes this Christmas. (Apple)
