Originally, Disney announced that the new nighttime water and light show would debut on April 22, but a recent post on the Disney Parks Blog states that the experience will need more time for finishing touches.
“With the expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’re excited to give Guests even more opportunities to celebrate the magic of animals and nature as day turns into night,” Thomas Smith, editorial content director for Disney parks, wrote. “While we’d hoped to debut these offerings on April 22, unfortunately, they will not open as planned on that date as we give the team more time to bring these innovative experiences to life in a way we know will exceed our guests’ expectations.”
A new date has yet to be announced, but Smith says more information will be made available in mid- to late May.
Despite the loss of the nighttime show, Animal Kingdom will still offer guests special Earth Day experiences.
Animal educators and conservation educators will be hosting special animal feedings and training experiences throughout the park.
Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rhode will be signing his artwork for The Disney Conservation Fund from 1 to 2 p.m. at Discovery Trading Company.
In Discovery Island, PhotoPass photographers will be carrying special Earth Day-themed props and frames for you to use to commemorate the holiday.
Plus, Inside the Magic reports that everyone’s favorite friendly bug Jiminy Cricket will be making a rare appearance for meet and greets at Rafiki’s Planet Watch to remind our consciences to be mindful of our planet.
