Governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency Monday in all 67 Florida counties to help Puerto Rico relief efforts.

Following the devastation left by Hurricane Maria, the governor signed an emergency order designed to provide families leaving the island with important resources and assistance upon arrival.

"Puerto Rico was totally devastated by Hurricane Maria and so many families lost everything," said Scott. "With families displaced by Hurricane Maria already present and still arriving in Florida, it is critical that our state is prepared to provide the resources they need upon entering our state."

According to a statement, those relief efforts will assist families with housing and unemployment assistance, crisis counseling and legal advice.

The order will implement the state's comprehensive emergency management plan, which could prompt federal funding to help aid efforts. Disaster relief centers will open in Orlando International Airport, Miami International Airport and the Port of Miami.

Some displaced families are already arriving in Florida, and at least 100,000 refugees are expected to leave Puerto Rico because of the hurricane.
