A broken sewage pipe released hundreds of thousands of gallons of wastewater near SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica last week, according to Orange County staff.
A total of 342,000 gallons of sewage overflowed at 3705 Sea Splash Way, just down the road from the parks onSept. 6 and 10, Orlando Weekly learned Thursday morning.
The pipe has been repaired and is operational as of Wednesday this week.
Orange County utilities reported that the spill was contained and the sewage was recovered and “directed into the sewage system.” It says that at no point was any surface water contaminated, including the drainage to Shingle Creek.
The incident was immediately reported to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
The county initially announced that 195,000 total gallons of wastewater overflowed. It updated that total to 342,000 gallons, just 32 minutes later.
The county does not say whether the overflow affected Aquatica or SeaWorld Orlando operations.
