Prayer Ribbons Memorial Exhibition

Since 2016, Jay Critchley with the Provincetown Community Compact has sent Orlando colorful ribbons with messages of support and the names of the Pulse shooting victims woven on for the Orlando community. These ribbons are now on display outside City Hall.

Pulse Remembrance Archive

Archival materials from the University of Central Florida’s library and the LGBTQ History Museum of Central Florida will be showcased in the Live Oak and Magnolia ballrooms at UCF. The display offers community members a space to reflect on local LGBTQ+ history ahead of the anniversary of Pulse.

Queer Joy as Resistance

An LGBTQ+ luncheon celebrating Pride Month with a focus on faith, community and the power of “being fully alive.” The gathering will feature a vigil for the 49 lives taken in the Pulse tragedy, wellness resources and opportunities for connection and collective action.

Pulse 10: Baquiné for the Angels

This community commemoration hosted by Del Ambiente, a nonprofit serving the Puerto Rican LGBTQ+ community, will be rooted in the Afro-Puerto Rican Baquiné tradition to honor the 49 Pulse victims and the survivors.

Created in Community: Portraits of Pulse 

Designed by local artist Jeff Sonksen, the works were completed in 2017 in a paint-by-numbers fashion by the victims’ families, friends and Orlando community members. Originally part of a traveling exhibit and now housed at the Orange County Regional History Center, the portraits will be displayed in City Hall through Aug. 23.

Day of Remembrance Blood Drive

A blood drive for Pulse Day of Remembrance will take place outside City Hall from 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Orlando residents can reserve donation times at oneblood.org.

A community remembrance event honoring the 49 lives taken in the Pulse tragedy. Descolonizarte Teatro invites community members to share in “community, art and resistance.”

Pulse Remembrance Ceremony
The city’s annual remembrance ceremony features performances by the Orlando Gay Chorus, local artists and a presentation by City of Orlando Poet Laureate Camara Gaither.  The ceremony will end with candle lighting and a reading of the 49 names whose lives were taken 10 years ago.
