At last the doors of the former Stonewall space on Church Street will open again this week, but with a very different name, look and vibe as Heatwave.

Heatwave is a new hybrid bar/restaurant/café concept taking over the multi-story building at 741 W. Church St. in Parramore, under the local management team of Kevin Varanai and Andrea Dunn.

Heatwave is intended as more than “just” a nightspot and is broken up into three distinct areas: The Green Room main space is a coffee spot during the day and a full-on bar in the evening; the Views upstairs bar goes for sports bar without the sports; and the outdoors Terrace area and bar is devised as a “date-night-ready spot.”

Heatwave soft-opens Friday, Aug. 15, from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., and that’s sure to be a busy one. The schedule for the next few days is Saturday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Sunday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.; and Monday, Aug. 18, from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m.

For each of the latter three soft-opening days, there will be café service in the morning hours through the early afternoon and then at 3 p.m. the bar opens and tapas will be available as the happy hour comes and goes and the night action begins. For updates on operating hours, keep an eye on Heatwave’s Instagram page.
