The Russian-born Kalashnikov will be moving out from Pennsylvania, New York Daily News reports, and into a 40,000-square-foot location in Pompano Beach. The company has already acquired its license to operate, and it’ll also be acquiring $162,000 in incentives from the city, Broward County and Florida.
Kalashnikov USA, which is no longer attached to Moscow’s Kalashnikov Concern after a U.S.-based sanction, will be selling the firearms in large quantities to retailers once the transitional period is over in mid-February.
This particular AK-47 brand, and its many imitators, has become a favorite among terrorist organizations. According to The Guardian, it was one of the most-fired weapons by said groups, having been used in the recent Sousse, Tunis and Paris attacks.
