Trust us, you don’t need to be a certified wine expert to enjoy this imbibing affair. After eight years, the Downtown Pour continues to appeal to a crowd of newbie sippers with the I’ll-try-everything-once attitude. While we don’t condone doing just that, what with the more than 100 varieties of adult beverages offered, we’ll steer you in the right direction: Vino rookies should stay with staples like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and sangria; more adventurous revelers might go for a nip of peanut butter vodka or the red chocolate wine; extreme carousers head straight to the liquor stand for bourbon, rum and tequila sampling (or shot calling!). And for the second year in a row, the Pour resides along the cobblestone streets of Thornton Park, so whether it’s the booze or not, at the end of this evening, patrons might find walking in a straight line a duly precarious feat. – Aimee Vitek
