40 photos celebrating Record Store Day at Park Ave CDs
This year’s celebration of Record Store Day broke all kinda sales records. Indie shops all over the country sold way way way more vinyl than usual this year, Rolling Stone says. But right here Orlando’s favorite record peddlers Park Ave CDs also reported their own big news from the music-lovers holiday.
If you happened to be hanging out in Audubon Park on Friday, April 18, you might have observed the crazy people camping out overnight on the sidewalk outside PACDs, which means people likely lost sleep this year for their fanaticism, just to gain entry before anyone else to snag the day’s special releases. Attendance was up this year, with more folks coming out to support than in the previous six years. Sales were also way up (but that should only follow, right?), making it one of the most successful sales days in PACDs history, according to the shop’s newsletter. They even sold out of Record Store Days shirts for the first time ever.
For anyone who chose to sleep on Record Store Day instead of sleeping bag-ging it on PACDs’ curb, it might interest you to know that over the weekend they re-stocked some RSD releases, including that Jimi Hendrix live album that was one of the day’s top sellers:
MGMT – Oracular Spectacular
Jimi Hendrix – Live at Monterey
Aerosmith – Rocks
Adventure Club – Calling All Heroes
Katy Perry – Prism
Bastille – Of the Night
Mayer Hawthorne – Jaded Inc.
Soundtrack – Scott Pilgrim vs The World
The Zombies – Odessey and Oracle
Norman Greenbaum – Spirit in the Sky
Sam Cooke – Ain’t That Grand
Kings of Leon – Wait For Me
Wednesday 13 – Calling All Corpses
