Much-loved indie-pop duo Mates of State are out on the road and playing Orlando this weekend — which should induce a cardigan-waving frenzy.
Mates, the long-running musical and life tandem of Kori and Jason Gardner (take that, Fleetwood Mac curse!) have been relatively quiet on the recording front as of late — with only last year’s single, “Somewhere,” released in the last decade — but it hasn’t dampened fans’ ardor.
Since the late 1990s indie-rock heyday, the couple have released seven sweet albums and played anywhere and everywhere with playful and openhearted charm to spare. The Mates have promised to report for duty and release a new album this year, so expect some new songs at this show mayhaps.
6 p.m. Saturday, July 19, The Social, $22.
