Though the title isn’t the most original, Junkie Rush proves with this eight-song sophomore album that they are one of the most creative and progressive bands in Orlando. Bobby Koelble’s compositional facility is matched only by the astounding musicianship that each member of the band displays and the wholly unique way the quartet wends through numbers like “Afrobeat” (which is more casual groove than Fela homage) or the heavy freneticism of “The Alfred Drive Borinquen Gelfling Throwdown” (which evokes Mr. Bungle with indigestion) means that little about their sound is predictable. Though a couple of the songs lock into a looser, Latin-sounding shuffle, the awe-inspiring rhythm section ensures solidity and surprises throughout.
